Quick Techniques to Combat Holiday Stress in 5 Minutes

5-Minute-Mindset-Reset-for-Holiday-Stress

The holidays are supposed to feel magical — but let’s be honest, they can also feel overwhelming. Between busy schedules, travel, family obligations, and endless to-do lists, it’s easy to get caught up in the chaos and lose your sense of calm.

That’s why I love quick mindset resets. In just five minutes, you can shift your energy, clear your head, and step back into the season with more peace and presence.

Here are five ways to reset in just five minutes (or less):

1. Breathe With Intention

Take a seat, close your eyes, and practice box breathing:

  • Inhale for 4 seconds
  • Hold for 4 seconds
  • Exhale for 4 seconds
  • Hold for 4 seconds

Repeat 3–5 times. It instantly lowers stress and calms your nervous system.

2. Write It Out

Grab a journal or even the notes app on your phone. Write down:

  • One thing that’s stressing you out
  • One thing you’re grateful for
  • One small thing you can do today to feel better

This grounds you and shifts your focus to what you can control.

3. Move Your Body

Movement is medicine. A quick walk around the block, a stretch, or even a festive dance to your favorite holiday song can break up stress and bring fresh energy.

4. Do a Holiday “Reframe”

Instead of: “I have to cook for everyone,” try: “I get to create a meal that brings my family together.”
Instead of: “I don’t have time to work out,” try: “I can give myself 20 minutes of strength today so I feel strong and energized.”

Reframing turns obligations into opportunities.

5. Practice Gratitude in Real Time

Look around wherever you are and name three things you’re thankful for. It could be the smell of cookies baking, a cozy blanket, or even just the ability to pause and breathe. Gratitude is the fastest stress reliever.
